Ringling Thesis GO!

Hello!

I am a senior game art student at Ringling College of Art and Design!

I want to be an Environment Artist and a Digital Sculptor in the Film and Game Industry.

Welcome to my senior year thesis dev blog, where I will document my thoughts and work in progress.

The goal is to make a game trailer for a game idea that we came up with. My focus will be on the environment modeling, character modeling, and layout.

The trailer will be complete and open to public view by May 2013.

Do not take any of what you see as FINAL, fully representative of my skillset, or the final representation of a thesis from the Game Art Major at Ringling College of Art and Design. It is still prone to change up until MAY 2013.

Now that you are aware of this warning.... The password is (all lowercase): gad322

Together....FOREVERRRRR

Here is what my characters look like at the moment! Since I know UVs are good now, I will go an start rigging these guys. Texturing still to come for both characters. And I forgot to resize the head on the wizard.

Positively UV

Just some silliness to break my SERIOUS concentration on UVs. But both my characters are low-poly now, and I'm on to UVing. Fun business.

Also, I want to get my models into the game by monday, with some kind of rig going.

Progress Stills

Still a work in progress. I really need to add more color variation in the diffuse of my stones. They actually have color and variation on them, but my lighting is making them look white/grayish.

It's kinda funny, but I had used colored lights (green and orange) to get the mood of my environment, but in the process of using them, any color gets overpowered on my props. You wouldn't ever guess that most of my textures in the scene are saturated BLUES. Haha, oh color theory.

Some adjustments...

...that I plan to make.

I think I'll make the Wizard's nose a little smaller too.  :o)

Finished Character Sculpts!

Here is my zbrush sculpt with a flat texture polypaint.

Wizard!

NecroMage Kid!

I plan adjust the head size of somebody. Either the kid or the wizard, because I feel that they have too much of a big difference. I know in movies like the Incredibles, and Wreck it Ralph, the head sizes don't match up, but I feel I'm doing it a little too much. They don't ever stand next to each other in my environment, but I feel compelled to make them look right if I ever posed them together.
